It is with great sadness that we have decided that the time has come for TRAP forum to close down. We opened our doors just over 7 years ago and have served many members during this time. We have over 5,000 registered members and over a quarter of a million posts made on our forums. We all have our limits of how much voluntary work we can do and this forum has gotten too big and time consuming for us to manage. We all need to have time to make a living and spend time with our family and friends.
Several of the staff have found themselves spending less and less time on the forum as we heal and move on to other areas of our lives. In addition, the financial strains of keeping the forum running are growing in this unstable economy and some of us need to focus our energies on making a living off-line now and spending more time with our families and other loved ones and have a new direction in our lives. It is time for the staff to move on with our lives off of the internet.
If you are grateful for our forums existence and you are feeling well enough, you are encouraged to consider opening your own benzo support forum or to continuing making productive posts and help out on other benzo online support groups.
While we are sad to see this chapter of our lives close, we are content in that there are other alternative avenues for our members who are in withdrawal and requiring a similar self-help venue. Aside from another benzo forum, Benzo Buddies, and some groups on yahoo groups, (just search benzo and benzodiazepine onhttp://groups.yahoo.com) there is also a potential opportunity for consultation with an experienced member of forumer volunteer staff. We may be able to offer a “paid for” consultancy, as long as such a consultation was not seen as a replacement for medical advice, and a disclaimer was signed, scanned and emailed back. Part of the payment can be paid into a Charity account and only a very limited amount of people could be taken on for such work.
We would like to thank past and present staff for their volunteer work, support and the important information shared with people suffering benzo withdrawal. This forum has served thousands of people and your time, effort, and kindness devoted to helping those people is beyond words.
And we would also like to thank our members who have extended themselves to help each other. It has been a pleasure to get to know all of you, the faces behind the withdrawal. You can get free from benzos and go on to heal.
